The Flame of Hope Torch Run for Special Olympics took place Tuesday with walkers traveling about two miles along U.S. 2 from the Michigan State Police Post to Iron Mountain Police Department. About 36 students and 20 staff members from the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District took part and were joined by family, friends and law enforcement officers. Leading the walkers were Braydon Conner, left, a freshman at Kingsford High School, who helps out at the state police post; Sgt. Adam Ray of the Iron Mountain Police Department, who carried the torch; and Shiloh LaButte of the state police outpost in Manistique. This was the 40th year of the event in Michigan and the 11th year Iron Mountain has taken part. The event raises money for Special Olympics.

Starting at $3.50/week.
