Dickinson County prosecutor releases report

IRON MOUNTAIN – Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney Lisa M. Richards has released her department’s activity report for September.

The office received 87 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

From those reports, the office authorized 25 felony and 34 misdemeanor warrants. There were 20 warrant requests reviewed and denied.

Warrants authorized included 14 for domestic violence or assault offenses, 16 for alcohol offenses, 12 for theft or property related offenses, seven for drug related offenses, 13 for various traffic offenses, one for criminal sexual conduct, one for carrying a concealed weapon, one for a stalking related offense, two for weapons related offenses, one for a construction related offense, one for a stray/unlicensed dog violation, two for telecommunication related offenses and one for fugitive from justice.

The office also drafted and submitted two abuse and neglect petitions and eight juvenile delinquency petitions to the probate court.

Throughout the month, the office had 26 preliminary examinations resulting in 10 defendants being bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings, six circuit court sentencings, 19 circuit court pre-trial conferences and 23 circuit court arraignments. The office also conducted numerous motion hearings, probation violation and show cause hearings in the district, probate and circuit courts.
