This week’s Back to the Present is provided by the Menominee Range Historical Museum in Iron Mountain.

The 1946 postcard is a north facing view of the 400 block of South Stephenson Avenue in Iron Mountain that highlights the Montgomery Ward Co. business on the corner.

Other businesses during that time included the S.S. Kresge Co. Department Store; the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., The Men’s Store (Max Dworsky and Paul Dworsky), J.C. Penny Co., Inc., and Oshin’s Ladies’ Apparel (Isaac H. Oshin).

At right the current view of the former Montgomery Ward’s building that is now the Downtown Plaza, home to several businesses including Mully & Mo’s, Spiro’s Restaurant, recently opened Love Bug Designs and somewhere.

Starting at $2.99/week.
