‘Sounds of Christmas’ to fill KHS auditorium
‘On with the snow!’ features seasonal favorites, string trio, record youth participation
KINGSFORD — The Dickinson County Community Chorus will present “The Sounds of Christmas” at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Kingsford High School auditorium.
Principal Conductor Crystal Hogan has highlighted the “On with the snow!” program with a variety of winter songs along with many traditional Christmas selections.
The DCCC Children’s Chorus of 32 members and women’s ensemble will be directed by Dawn Kranz. The men’s ensemble is under the direction of Jeremiah Garrigues-Cortelyou. Jean Panek and Mary Lee are the featured piano accompanists. The chamber orchestra will accompany the chorus.
The string trio Datura will join the annual concert program.
The chorus this year has 100 members, of which 16 are teenagers, a record number of young people in the adult chorus.
“From our 5 year olds to our 93 year old member, Rosemary VanPeymbrock, it is such a blessing to sing together across the generations,” Hogan said. “As always, there will be a chance for the audience to sing with the chorus at the finale of the concert.”
Tickets for the concert are a $10 donation for adults and a $5 donation for students. Tickets can be purchased with cash or check only from chorus members, at The Music Tree or at the door, though they advise buying tickets before the performance as they have sold out both evenings in past years.
Proceeds from the concert support the chorus in all its programs throughout the year.
