Breitung Township Board OKs 2025 budget
QUINNESEC — The property tax rate will remain the same for Breitung Township residents in 2025.
The Breitung Township Board on Monday adopted a proposed $6.3 million general fund budget for fiscal year 2025 that holds the tax rate at 4.2 mills, or $4.20 per $1,000 of taxable value, a rate that has stayed steady for nearly 20 years.
The $3.2 million in general fund revenue includes $1.2 million from property taxes and $1.5 million from state grants.
Other fund revenues are expected to total $1.6 million. Those include $140,000 from the cemetery fund, $625,340 from the refuse collection fund and $569,140 from the township’s three water funds.
General fund expenditures total $6.3 million and include a proposed $2.75 million for a township hall renovation, a $385,460 transfer to the other funds, $600,000 for road construction and $532,200 for parks and recreation. With the general fund budget exceeding revenues, a township hall project would have to be paid with reserve funds or a borrowing plan.
Other fund expenditures included $140,000 for the cemetery fund, $625,340 for refuse collection and $680,760 for the township’s three water funds.
