Beekeeping class Feb. 15
NORWAY — Northwoods Beekeepers will hold its popular Beginning Beekeeping class from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Crossroads Alliance Church in Norway.
“Keeping honey bees is rewarding,” says Gino Venditti, veteran beekeeper in Iron Mountain. “But you can’t just put your bees in a box and wait for the honey. Attend this meeting to learn the essentials to start keeping your own bees.”
Local beekeepers will teach the three-hour class. Topics will include basic honey bee biology, buying the right equipment, where to get your bees, how to install and inspect a bee colony, and ways to promote hive health. The event will include whole-group presentations and breakout sessions for more focused learning.
Register for Beginning Beekeeping by contacting the club at borderlandbeeks@gmail.com or 906-282-0151 by Thursday, Feb. 13. The class is free. Donations are welcome to cover costs.
