IRON MOUNTAIN — The 10th-annual U.P. Veterans War Memorial and Park Golf Scramble fundraiser is set for Saturday, June 14, at Oak Crest Golf Course in Norway.

Check-in for the scramble is from 7 to 8:45 a.m. at the course.

The event will be limited to 30 four-person teams, or 120 players. Single players will be assigned to a team.

Cost is $80 per player, with dinner included.

They will also have hole-in-one contests, 50-50 drawings, and door prizes. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.

The funds raised will be used for in-progress expansion and general maintenance of the U.P. Veterans War Memorial and Park, at the top of Pine Mountain in Iron Mountain, said volunteer Dennis Larson, who helped to establish the memorial in 2006 with his wife, Bar, and Robert and Lori Massicotte.

The major event sponsors are Trident Maritime Systems in Kingsford and St. George Glass in Iron Mountain.

Larson said they are still seeking hole and team sponsors for the scramble. Businesses or individuals can also share sponsorship of a hole.

Participants can send checks made payable to the U.P. Veterans Memorial to Barb Larson, 609 Kennedy Road, Iron Mountain, MI 49801. Players are asked to include name, phone number and email address. They also are asked to indicate if a golf cart will be needed the day of the event.

To become a sponsor or for more information, contact Larson at 906-221-9373.

Starting at $3.50/week.
