Peshtigo woman killed in Marinette County crash
MARINETTE, Wis. — A Peshtigo, Wis., woman is dead after a crash this morning on Marinette County Highway X in the Town of Wagner.
Marinette County Dispatch received a report at 9:24 a.m. that a vehicle had gone into a ditch on Highway X west of Phillips Road, according to a news release from Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller.
An investigation indicates Jessica A. Garbaciak, 49, was driving east on Highway X when she lost control of the vehicle on a curve and went into the ditch on the opposite side of the highway.
Garbaciak, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died from injuries after being ejected.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Also assisting at the crash were the Wisconsin State Patrol, Wagner Fire Department, Wausaukee Rescue, Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area EMS and 180 Auto & Towing.
This was Marinette County’s fourth traffic fatality of the Memorial Day weekend. Three people, all from downstate Wisconsin, were killed Friday night in a two-vehicle crash on Marinette County Highway A in the town of Stephenson.
