IRON MOUNTAIN — The Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority will kick off its annual Farmers & Artisans Market for the 2025 season Saturday.
The market is open from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday through Oct. 11, in the parking lot at the intersection of Iron Mountain and A streets, across from the Dickinson County Library in downtown Iron Mountain.
Each week, the downtown fixture features about 40 vendors from the local area, as well as from across the Upper Peninsula and northeastern Wisconsin.
Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority Program Coordinator Tim McCauley said a large number of vendors from last year have returned, along with several new additions.
“Currently we have almost 60 vendors that have committed this year,” McCauley said. “Some will be with us all 20 weeks, while others will appear on a weekly basis.”

The Iron Mountain DDA has seen a significant jump in the level of interest with participation this year. “We have about a 25% increase from last year,” he added. “The market’s popularity is getting out.”
Market attendance runs from 500 to 800 each week, depending on the weather.
“It’s really DDA’s best-attended event, bringing in more than 10,000 people every season,” McCauley said.
Shoppers can find unique combinations of local and organic produce, seasonal plants, honey and maple syrup, flowers, locally made baked goods and arts and crafts.
“Everything is grown or made locally, which is part of the DDA requirements,” he said.

The market usually has fresh produce available around the first week of July.
“Locally grown produce offers more of a variety than a box store, with better quality, taste and nutritious value,” he added.
The DDA will keep an up-to-date list of vendors on its website at http://downtownironmountain.com. In addition to the business name and description of merchandise, several have a link to their website or Facebook page.
Information on food voucher acceptance at the market also is available on the website or by contacting the DDA office.
Local musicians — including Alyssa Jorgensen, DB Rouse and Crystal and Dawn — will again perform for the event as well, weather permitting. “They will provide relaxing, background music for the event,” McCauley said. “They will be set up in the middle of the action.”
McCauley noted the market area has plenty of nearby parking, including right on Iron Mountain Street or the parking lot behind the City Hall.
A map of downtown parking is also available on the DDA website.
The DDA encourages the community to come spend Saturdays in the downtown.
“There are many businesses within a short walk, like coffee shops, restaurants and retail stores,” McCauley said. “The market is also a great gathering place for the community of all ages, from young kids to seniors.”
All the revenue generated from the event goes back into making the market a success each year.
The 2025 season sponsors include First National Bank & Trust, Results Broadcasting and CJ Graphics.
Any individual or business interested in sponsoring the market can contact the Iron Mountain DDA at 906-774-8534.
