Chris Charboneau & Friends to perform in Norway

Chris Charboneau performs at Music in the Park on Thursday in the bandshell in downtown Norway.
NORWAY — This week, Music in the Park will welcomes a seasoned performer who is no stranger to the series as Chris Charboneau & Friends present the sixth concert of the summer. The free summertime music series will continue at 7 p.m. Thursday at the band shell in downtown Norway.
Charboneau hails from Madison Heights near Detroit. He is a 1993 graduate of Northern Michigan University, where he received his degree in music education. He taught high school and middle school instrumental music before retiring from full-time teaching in 2019.
Throughout his life, Charboneau has entertained people as a gifted pianist and vocalist. He plays keyboards and sings in the metro Detroit-area band Mr. Moody. His solo shows feature a wide variety of rock and pop music from the 1970s and ’80s, with some jazz sprinkled in as well.
The keyboardist/singer will perform songs by James Taylor, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Beatles, The Eagles, Stephen Stills, Heart, The Doobie Brothers and more. Music in the Park is excited to welcome him — and several musician friends who will perform with him — back to the series, and Charboneau said he is really looking forward to seeing everyone Thursday.
“We hope folks that come into Iron Mountain for this week’s ‘Out to Lunch’ concert, featuring 141 North, will enjoy the afternoon, have a nice dinner in the area and come on down to beautiful band shell park to hear Chris and dance to the greatest hits of the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and more,” event coordinator Carol Sundstrom said.
Another beautiful, sunny Thursday evening had live music fans packing band shell park, and the fifth Music in the Park concert in Norway was a hit. The Suns of Memphis, another group new to the series, gave a great performance to an appreciative live music crowd.
In case of inclement weather, concerts will be at the Crossroads Church (Grace United Methodist/Bethany Lutheran) on Odill Drive behind the Jake Menghini Historical Museum on the east edge of Norway. Check the Norway Music in the Park Facebook page for updates if the weather is questionable.
