IMHS receives donation from the Class of 1974

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain High School recently welcomed back alumni from the Class of 1974.
The group returned to their alma mater to tour the building, reconnect with former classmates and reflect on their time as Mountaineers.
During their visit, the Class of 1974 presented a $3,000 donation to Iron Mountain Public Schools to support the district’s efforts to transform its beloved Snuffy mascot, a symbol of school pride and spirit that is recognized by students and community members alike.
The donation was in honor of the late alumni of the Class of 1974: Jamie Barkle, Dave Celello, Cindy Borga, Sue Calcari, Greg Carlson, Nick Carollo, Jackie Cram, Tom Creed, Sue Dawe, Anne Eslinger, Perry Franzoi, Brad Maki, Pat Milner, Mary Morin, Ron Noskey, Ed Phillion, Brenda Richtig, Dennis Sleik, Joe Steiner, Steve Theisen, Dan Wilmer, Larry Schettler, Jeff VanLannen, Barb Oja, Connie Gauthier, Karen Smaby, Ken D’Amour, Cathay Fortier Kopp and Jim Lindeman.
“We are incredibly grateful and thank the Class of 1974 for their support. Their generosity shows how strong the Mountaineer legacy is and how alumni continue to make a difference for current and future students,” a school spokesperson said.
The new mascot costume debuted during the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Independence Day Parade, helping usher in a new era of school spirit with a look that reflects the pride and passion of the Mountaineer community.
