MARQUETTE — The American Red Cross calls on donors to give blood or platelets now to maintain a steady national blood supply. Type O blood donors are especially key to keeping critical blood products on hospital shelves into August.

The First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford, will host two blood drives in August. The first will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, and the second 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
