WAM Fest is back
WABENO, Wis. — The 10th-annual Wabeno Art & Music Fest returns Saturday, July 19, featuring live music and performances by local, area and regional musicians beginning at 11 a.m. through the evening headliner, Adam Trask, from 8 to 10 p.m.
The student art show will be in the Legion Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for viewing art from middle and high school students from Laona and Wabeno. Artful Activities for children begin at 1 p.m. on the festival grounds. Even “Larry the Logroller” will be greeting visitors.
“Last year’s downtown road construction is done, and the new road, sidewalks and curbs look fantastic. Wabeno will shine for WAM Fest. Enjoy the street market, listen to the great music, eat delicious food, walk around the iconic logging era buildings, and meet some really fun and friendly folks,” said Mary Beck, fest coordinator.
WAM Fest will have food trucks this year — Sexy BBQ, Melt Stop and Los Magueyes — plus a variety of beverages will be offered for purchase. The 50-50 raffle this year will name three top winners at the conclusion of the event at 10 p.m.
Street market vendors, crafters, and area artists will be part of WAM Fest again. The market runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a wide variety of booths, including handcrafted guitars and banjos, wood-turned products, home décor, jewelry, paintings, home crafted items, vintage and collectibles, baked goods, farm produce, grass-fed beef products, jams, jellies, plants and more.
Area sponsors that make WAM Fest possible include the Wabeno Lions Club, Christian Thrift Store, Trump Lake Protective Association, Antique Power Association, Laona State Bank, Wabeno American Legion Post 44, Wabeno Public Library, Smith Concrete, and Weber Hill & Packard Funeral Home and scores of local volunteers.
WAM Fest is coordinated by the Friends of Wabeno, a local nonprofit group of volunteers who are working to help keep Wabeno economically strong and healthy through beautification and community development projects.
