A look at area school calendars for 2025-26
Many area districts will start the 2025-26 school year next week, some as early as Monday.
Of note: The usual “Deer Day” some districts schedule for the opening of gun deer season in Michigan does not appear on calendars this year because it falls on a Saturday.
Also this school year, Spring Break will include Good Friday and Easter.
Some other details from area school calendars include:
MICHIGAN
NORTH DICKINSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
FELCH TOWNSHIP — North Dickinson County students will begin the 2025-26 school year at 8:25 a.m. Monday.
An open house is set for 6 to 8 p.m. today at the school on M-69 in Felch Township.
No classes will meet Aug. 29 until after Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 1.
Students will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 24, Oct. 29, Jan. 28 and March 18, plus all day Feb. 9, for staff professional development; and Oct. 8 for parent-teachers conference.
Other significant days off include Thanksgiving Break Nov. 27-28, Holiday Break from Dec. 22 through Jan. 2 and Spring Break from March 30 through April 6.
Graduation for seniors is set for May 15.
Classes will not meet for Memorial Day on May 25.
The final day of classes is May 29.
NORTH CENTRAL AREA SCHOOLS
POWERS — Students will start school Monday.
An open house will take place Thursday, with visits to classrooms and teachers from 3 to 4 p.m., ninth-grade orientation in the high school gymnasium at 3:30 p.m. and a Tailgate Party from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by the Jets’ first home volleyball game in Powers.
Labor Day break will be Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
Classes will not be in session Sept. 29, Oct. 24 and Feb. 16 for staff professional development.
Classes will dismiss at noon Oct. 31, Nov. 19, Jan. 16, March 20 and April 16.
School will be out Nov. 26-28 for Thanksgiving break.
Winter break is set to start Dec. 22 and extend through Jan. 2.
On Feb. 13, school will not be in session for a built-in snow day.
Spring break for North Central is set for March 30 through April 3.
Graduation will be 6 p.m. May 22.
No classes will take place May 25 for Memorial Day.
The last day of class for the 2025-2026 school year is May 29 and will be only a half day.
FOREST PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT
CRYSTAL FALLS — Students will begin classes Monday.
The district will have an open house and orientation night Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m. for elementary students, 6 to 7 p.m. for sixth grade and new middle school students and 7 to 8 p.m. for ninth graders and new high school students.
School will not be in session Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 for Labor Day.
There also will be no school Sept. 8, Nov. 14, Feb. 16 and May 18 for professional development. Half-days have been set for Oct. 31, Nov. 12 and March 19 for parent-teacher conferences. Another half-day takes place Dec. 19
Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 24 through Nov. 28.
Holiday break is set to begin Dec. 22, then extend through Jan. 2.
Feb. 9 will be a winter break day.
Spring Break will be March 30 through April 6, with school back in session April 7
Graduation ceremonies for 2026 seniors are planned for May 23.
Classes will not meet May 25 for Memorial Day.
The final day for students and teachers will be a half-day June 4.
WEST IRON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
IRON RIVER — The first day of classes for students is set for Tuesday.
Labor Day break will be Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
School will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 30, Oct. 16, Oct. 30, Dec. 8, Dec. 19, Feb. 23, March 18, April 21 and May 18.
School will not be in session from Nov. 26 through 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Christmas break will be Dec. 22 through Jan 2.
Feb. 6 and 9 will have no classes for a mid-winter break.
Spring break is from March 30 through April 6.
Graduation will be May 22.
No classes will be held on May 25 for Memorial Day.
The final day for Wykon students for the 2025-2026 school year is June 5, which will be a half day.
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
KINGSFORD — Students will report for the first day of class Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Breitung Township district students will be out Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 for Labor Day.
There also will be no school Oct. 10, Feb. 16, March 13 and May 1 for professional days.
The district will allow students to be off Nov. 17 for the first gun deer season weekend.
Other days off include Nov. 27-29 for Thanksgiving, with early dismissal Nov. 26. Winter Break will be Dec. 22 through Jan. 2, then a midwinter break day has been set for Feb. 9.
Spring Break is set for March 30 through April 6, with early dismissal March 27.
Kingsford High School graduation is set for May 23.
No classes will be held on May 25 for Memorial Day.
The last day of classes for the 2025-2026 school year is June 4, with early dismissal.
IRON MOUNTAIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS DISTRICT
IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain Public Schools will come back into session Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Classes will break for Labor Day from Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
Classes also will not meet on Oct. 10, Nov. 14, Jan. 30 and March 13 for professional days. Nov. 6 will be a half day for parent-teachers conferences.
Nov. 26 will be a half-day and classes will be out through Nov. 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Winter break is set for Dec. 22 through Jan. 2.
School also will be closed Feb. 9 for a mid-winter break.
Spring break will be March 30 through April 6.
Graduation is set for May 22.
School will be closed May 25 for Memorial Day.
The last day of class for the 2025-2026 school year is June 3 and it will be a half day.
NORWAY-VULCAN AREA SCHOOLS
NORWAY — The first day of classes for Norway-Vulcan Area Schools will be Wednesday, Aug. 27.
An open house is set for 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Labor Day break is Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
Classes will be out Oct. 31, Jan. 16 and Feb. 9 for teacher in-service days.
Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 26 through 28. Winter break is set for Dec. 22 through Jan. 2.
Classes will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. March 22 for a teacher in-service.
Spring break will be March 30 through April 6.
Graduation for seniors takes place May 22.
School will not be in session on Memorial Day, May 25.
June 5 is the last day of classes for students.
BISHOP BARAGA CATHOLIC SCHOOL
IRON MOUNTAIN — The first day of classes for students is set for Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Bishop Baraga will have a Back-to-School Bash from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday.
Labor Day break will be Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
School will not be in session Nov. 27 and 28 for Thanksgiving, with early dismissal Nov. 26.
Christmas break will be Dec. 22 through Jan 2.
Feb. 9 will have no classes for a mid-winter break.
Spring break is from March 30 through April 6.
The last day for eighth-grade students will be May 20, with graduation May 21.
School will not meet May 25 for Memorial Day.
The last day of classes will be May 29, with early dismissal.
HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC SCHOOL
NORWAY — The first day of classes for students is set for Wednesday.
A Back-to-School Bash will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bishop Baraga Catholic School in Iron Mountain.
Seventh- and eighth-grade orientation will be 5:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Labor Day break will be Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
There also will be no school Oct. 10 and early dismissal Jan. 16 and March 13 for staff professional days. Students will be dismissed early Nov. 6 for parent-teacher conferences.
School will not be in session Nov. 28-29 for Thanksgiving, with early dismissal Nov. 27.

NIAGARA, Wis. — The first day of school for Niagara is Tuesday, Sept. 2.
An open house will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Oct. 23 will be an early dismissal due to parent/teacher conferences and there will be no classes on Oct. 24 for a staff development day.
Thanksgiving break is set for Nov. 26-28. Winter break will be Dec. 22 through Jan. 2.
School will also be closed Jan. 16 for a staff development day.
Classes will be only a half day Feb. 12 for parent-teacher conferences and then out Feb. 13 for staff development.
Spring break will be March 30-April 3.
Graduation ceremonies for Niagara seniors will take place May 15.
School will be out May 25 for Memorial Day.
The final day of classes is May 29.
GOODMAN-ARMSTRONG CREEK SCHOOL DISTRICT
GOODMAN, Wis. — Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 2, the day after Labor Day.
Classes will not be in session Oct. 9-10 and Feb. 5-6 for in-service days.
Parent-teachers conferences will be Oct. 8 and Feb. 4.
School will be closed Nov. 24 through 28 for Thanksgiving holiday break. Winter break is set for Dec. 24 through Jan. 2.
Spring break will take place from March 30 through April 6.
Graduation for Goodman-Armstrong Creek seniors is May 23.
School will be out May 25 for Memorial Day.
The district’s 2024-25 school year is scheduled to end May 29 and will be only a half day.
SCHOOL DISTRICT OF FLORENCE COUNTY
FLORENCE, Wis. — The first day of classes for the Florence County district will be Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Students will have early dismissal Oct. 22 and Feb. 12 for parent-teacher conferences; also Dec. 4 and April 23 for staff development. Jan. 23 and Feb. 27 will be full days off for teachers in-service.
Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 24-28, holiday break Dec. 24 through Jan. 2. Spring break is March 30 through April 3.
Graduation is May 22.
School will be out May 25 for Memorial Day.
The final day of class is June 5.
BEECHER-DUNBAR-PEMBINE SCHOOL DISTRICT
PEMBINE, Wis. — The first day of classes for students will be Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Teacher in-service days, with no classes for all students, will take place Oct. 3, Nov. 21, Jan. 23 and May 1. Parent-teacher conferences will be on Oct. 2 and March 5.
Thanksgiving break is Nov. 24 through 28. Holiday break will be Dec. 22 through Jan 2.
Spring break is set for March 30 through April 3.
Graduation is on May 22.
School will be out May 25 for Memorial Day.
The last day of classes for 4-year-old kindergarten through fifth grade will be May 29 and for the high school and middle school on June 2.
