German dinner Friday to benefit Holy Spirit school

IRON MOUNTAIN — A German-themed fundraiser for Holy Spirit Catholic School in Norway is slated Friday at the Sandstone Terrace in Iron Mountain.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Takeouts will also be available.

They will serve a German menu that includes grilled beer brats with assorted toppings; hot German potato salad; rotkohl, or German red cabbage; pretzel sticks with beer dip; along with two German desserts, Donauwellen kuchen, a Danube wave cake, and versunken afelkuchen, a sunken apple cake; and German pecan caramel rolls.

“The food is all homemade and delicious,” event organizer Paula Pieropon Land said.

Cost for a dinner special is $15, which includes a choice of brat and any two items from the menu. All proceeds go to the “kids” at Holy Spirit Catholic School in Norway.

The Terrace will also host a Bell’s Brewery tap takeover that evening, with local duo Norton & Chartier playing a variety of classic rock acoustic tunes from 6 to 9 p.m.

Tickets for the school’s annual fundraiser raffle will be available at the entrance. Tickets are $10 each. Based on all tickets sold, top prize is $10,000, second $4,000, third $3,000, fourth $2,000 and fifth $1,000. The drawing will take place at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Thirsty Whale in Norway.

They will have T-shirts for sale for $15.

“Belle’s beer, German food and Norton & Chartier at the Sandstone Rooftop — sounds like a grand slam home run to me,” Pieropon Land said. “See you there.”
