Marinette County Fair opens today

Mercedes Bereza of Amberg, Wis., places her decorated cookies on a tray with the help of Marinette County Fair volunteers — from left are Helen Schlinkert, Gail Lesperance and Erika Lesperance. This was the first time she has entered anything at the fair, Bereza said. The Marinette County Fair opens today in Wausaukee, Wis., and continues through Sunday. Grandstand events include a mini rod pull at 6 p.m. today, the farm tractor pull at 6:30 p.m. Friday, a demolition derby at 1 p.m. and the truck pull at 7 p.m. Saturday, and a horse pull starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Entry is $5 per day, or a weekend pass for $12 in advance or $15 at the gate. (Marguerite Lanthier/Daily News photo)
