DNR open house Sept. 30 in Powers
POWERS — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will host an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 30, at the Spalding Township Hall, N15881 Pine St., Powers. For more efficient oversight, the DNR divides each forest management unit into smaller units or compartments.
Maps and information regarding proposed management activities or treatments can be found at Michigan.gov/forestry. Compartment Review Packets for the 2027 Year of Entry can be found by clicking on the Public Input button and then “Forest Map.”
The DNR will complete its formal compartment review Tuesday, Oct. 21, to decide on final treatment plans for these areas. That meeting will take place at 9 a.m. Eastern time at the Escanaba State Office Building, 305 Ludington St., Escanaba.
Those who have a disability that requires accommodation to attend these meetings should contact Dan Racine, racined@michigan.gov at 906-789-8231, at least five business days before each meeting.
Those unable to attend either the September or October meeting are encouraged to submit comments via email to Dan Racine, unit manager, at racined@michigan.gov using the subject line “Escanaba Forest Management Unit open house comment.” All comments must be received at least three days before each meeting.
