Kingsford sets rate for recycling program

KINGSFORD — A monthly rate of $8.50 has been set for Kingsford’s new voluntary curbside recycling program that will debut in January.

The city is partnering with the city of Norway for the program. The monthly fees will be locked in for 2026 and 2027, Kingsford City Council decided this week.

Pickup will be provided by Green For Life of Kingsford.

The city is moving ahead with enrollment so it can be completed by Oct. 31. GFL hopes to order the 96-gallon recycling containers in November to have them ready for distribution by Jan. 1.

A new state law requires cities to offer curbside recycling by January. Services, however, will only begin quarterly, according to information on the city’s website.

Registration forms and recycling guidelines can be found at https://www.kingsfordmi.gov/.
