GWINN — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter will host a party to celebrate its 50th anniversary from noon to 3 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, Oct. 12.

The celebration will take place in the community room at UPAWS, with an anniversary cake and snacks. There will also be a shelter open house and tours of the facility will be offered.

The first 100 people will receive door prizes, and their names will be added to a drawing for additional prizes, including a Paws Park Pass.

The public is invited to attend.

UPAWS is at 815 S. State Highway M-553.
