This week’s Back to the Present, provided by the Menominee Range Historical Museum, is The Cycle Shop at 109 E. Brown St. in Iron Mountain.
Operated by Williams Rhodes, it sold Indian brand motorcycles and repaired cycles, bicycles and later automobiles. In the first photo from 1927 are Rhodes, left, Pat Trepanier, center, and James Martin, right.
Later information indicated the shop was at 202 Merritt Ave.
The second photo, taken between 1915 and 1925, shows Rhodes, left, and an unnamed employee.
John Lorenzen and Joseph Grevette ran a saloon at that location from 1892-1894, and John E. Clash sold teas and more there in 1913. By 1939, the address was listed as vacant. It was later torn down.
