Local government meetings scheduled
The Iron County Board will meet jointly with the Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Council at 4 p.m. today at the Pentoga Park Pavilion, 1630 County Road 424, Crystal Falls. The purpose is to visit and discuss the long-term protection of the Spirit Houses at Pentoga Park, and to consider approval of trial court staffing positions and a dispatchers wage adjustment.
Breitung Township Board will have a special meeting at 5 p.m. today at the township hall in Quinnesec. Agenda items include the budget and personnel. A regular board meeting will follow at 7 p.m. The agenda includes a dump truck purchase and a dangerous building order for 100 State St., East Kingsford.
Florence Town Board will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Florence Community Center, 749 Central Ave., Florence, Wis. The agenda include garbage and recycling rules, discussion and possible action on the addition of two town board supervisor positions, and a possible referendum on switching from an elected to an appointed clerk-treasurer.
Kingsford Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at Kingsford City Hall.
Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority will have an events meeting at noon Tuesday and a business development meeting at noon Thursday. The meetings will be at Contrast Coffee, 1202 Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain.
Breitung Township Schools will have a special board of education meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the media center at Kingsford High School. The purpose is to consider disciplining a student and other regular school business.
