ESCANABA — The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile — well, one of a fleet of six driven by brand ambassadors called “hotdoggers” — was seen in the Upper Peninsula on Monday.
The food-shaped vehicle — spotted in Escanaba and photographed by the Daily Press thanks to a tip from someone who saw it pass the Ford River Pub heading northeast — was likely on its way to Negaunee, where it is scheduled to show Thursday before two later appearances in Marquette.
The Wienermobile should be at the Negaunee Super One Foods, 440 U.S. 41, from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday; at Marquette Super One Foods, 3070 U.S. 41, from noon to 5 p.m. Friday; and at the Marquette Mountain Fall Fest and Cheese Roll, 4501 State Highway M-553, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Since 1988, the fleet of six 23-foot-long Wienermobiles have toured the country promoting the hot dog brand, which tracks its origins to 1883, when Bavarian immigrant Oscar F. Mayer opened his first shop.
