Wisconsin woman injured in Iron County crash

An 18-year-old Kiel, Wis., woman was injured in a traffic crash at about 1:11 p.m. Friday on U.S. 2 near Bates-Amasa Road in Bates Township, said Iron County Sheriff Ryan Boehmke.

The woman was the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Trax that rear-ended a truck that was towing a lowboy trailer, Boehmke said in a news release. She was taken to Aspirus Hospital in Iron River and then transferred to Aspirus Wausau for further treatment, he said.

The driver of the truck, a 26-year-old Iron River man, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting were Iron County Search and Rescue, the West iron County Fire Department, Aspirus EMS, Iron County Central Dispatch and Michigan State Police.
