Iron County Board OKs pay increases of 4%
CRYSTAL FALLS — Pay raises of 4% have been approved by the Iron County Board for elected and appointed county workers.
An additional increase was approved for the jail administrator Danielle Cunningham, as the county is taking in out-of-county inmates, resulting in more paperwork. The board learned the county has received $226,000 in general revenue from the practice since June and now must turn some away some inmates to have room for in-county inmates.
Cunningham’s salary will increase to $63,500.
In other action last week, the board:
— Signed on for plans to have a band camp this summer, in addition to the regular youth camp. Both will be held at Camp Batawagama. Registration fees for band camp were set at $250 for county residents and $500 for out-of-county. Youth camp fees will be $175 for county residents and $375 for nonresidents.
— Learned that 35 children are signed up for 4-H and many clubs decorated trees at the Christmas Tree Galleria at the Iron County Museum. The Sharp Shooters received a grant to help purchase some safety equipment.
— Received a report from Ashley Schmidt, dispatch administer, who is seeking to fill three full-time dispatching appointments that are already budgeted. A part-time employee may be interested in a full-time position in January. She also recommended they terminate a contract with Dickinson County for as-needed services. They currently have five full-time employees, two part-time and two contractors. The board made plans to meet with Schmidt today.
