IRON MOUNTAIN — Denise Lind has been named general manager and advertising director of the Daily News.
Mike Bird, group publisher for the Ogden Newspapers, made the announcement.
Lind is a lifelong resident of the local region who most recently served as the Daily News’ retail advertising director. In her new role she will not only oversee the entire advertising department but also have oversight of the newspaper’s newsroom and distribution staffs.
She said the Daily News and its digital platform, ironmountaindailynews.com, continue to be the leading news source for the city and greater Dickinson County.
“I look forward to bringing our readers community news that is informative, engaging, and meaningful, while continuing the Daily News’ commitment to serving the people, communities and businesses of our area through sound coverage of local issues, principled leadership on our opinion pages and continued opportunities for our business partners to share their message,” Lind said. “The Daily News has excelled at this for more than 100 years — and that won’t change under my leadership.”
Lind is a 1991 graduate of Florence High School. She continued her education at Fox Valley Technical College, earning an associate’s degree with a strong emphasis on design, visual communication, and creative layout, skills that have supported her career in media and advertising.
Lind brings both professional experience and deep community ties to her new role. She is the proud mother of two children: Evan Bruemmer, a senior in the Army ROTC program at Northern Michigan University, and Brooke Bruemmer, a senior at Niagara High School.
Outside of work, Lind enjoys a wide range of creative pursuits, including DIY home projects, interior decorating, gardening, and creating art in many forms — from charcuterie boards and acrylic paintings to floral arrangements and drawings.
Bird said Lind’s commitment to the newspaper and also to the greater Iron Mountain region will serve local readers well.
“Denise understands the issues that are most important to Iron Mountain and the surrounding communities and can work with other leaders throughout the region to help address those matters,” Bird said. “She was the clear choice to lead The Daily News, and we look forward to working with her well into the future as she leads this newspaper.”
