Opening dates set for Great Community Center

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Imagination Factory Community Center of Iron Mountain has announced the doors to the first floor children’s museum will open to the public Saturday, Feb. 28.
The community center will host an open house from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 7 and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the new community center at 301 W. Hughitt St.
Board members will be available for tours and questions, said Imagination Factory Executive Director Barb Reisner.
The current Imagination Factory Children’s Museum will close Saturday, Jan. 10, in preparation for the move.
“All the exhibits will be relocated to their new home prior to the open house,” Reisner noted.

The renovated former historical school building allows the community center to expand to 50,000 square feet. up from 3,000 square feet in a building that opened next door in 2021.
The first floor of the community center will feature 55 exhibits and play stations, family resource room, lockers, and Gus Macker Cafe and Kitchen.
Children’s and family activities, along with several youth clubs, are set to begin this spring. Career development training activities for seventh through 12th grade students and parents will be implemented starting in April.
“All upcoming activities will be announced in the media,” said Reisner.
She noted that renovation will continue, with a grand opening of all three floors and outdoor playground to take place in 2026.
The Imagination Factory Board of Directors credits Bill Henricksen of Ink Design & Apparel for creating the new outdoor signs that are still under construction.

The second campaign will start at the open house and continue until the second and third floors and playground are completed.
The Imagination Factory non-profit organization remains committed to providing “a place where everyone belongs.”
