Kiwanis Ski Club President Nick Blagec presents Butch Wedin of Iron Mountain, left, with the honorary first button for the 2026 FIS Continental Cup ski jump tournament, set for Feb. 20-22 at Giant Pine Mountain. Wedin was a member of the U.S. Ski Team from 1958 to 1964 and competed in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squad Valley, Calif. In 1957, at age 16, he was the North American junior champion. He was inducted into the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and the American Ski Jumping Hall of Fame in 2008.
