Free Chili in the Woods event planned Feb. 7
FLORENCE, Wis. — The Chili in the Woods snowshoeing event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Keyes Peak Chickadee Trails.
If there is not enough snow to snowshoe, participants can hike the trails instead. The 1.5-mile Chickadee Trail connects to the new 3.92-mile mountain bike trail system at the top of Keyes Peak.
Snowshoes will be available onsite to try for free. No pets are allowed during the event.
The public is invited to get outside for some fresh air, exercise and camaraderie around a campfire. There will be free chili, hot dogs on the fire, cookies and beverages to enjoy with friends.
The Chickadee trails can be reached by traveling about 3 miles south of Florence on Highway 101, then turning left at the Scenic Overview sign just before the Keyes Peak Ski Lodge entrance. The food tent will be set up between the parking lot and the trailhead sign. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Florence Wild Rivers Interpretive Center. Any donations given at the event will help improve the exhibits and displays at the Wild Rivers Interpretive Center.
