IRON MOUNTAIN — Get your wands and robes ready for some spellbinding fun at the “Night of Wizardry.”
The Dickinson Area Community Foundation will host its eighth “Harry Potter”-themed fundraiser Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31, at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain. Doors will open at 5 p.m. both days to the one-of-a-kind experience.
Guests will be served a medieval-style dinner in the Great Hall, said DACF Executive Director Tamara Juul, noting vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and children’s meal options are available.
DACF has again teamed up with Evan Blagec, known professionally as “Mr. Black,” and his team plus the Dickinson County Community Theatre.
“So much talent from our local thespians,” she said.

More than two dozen actors will portray prominent “Harry Potter” characters.
Those scheduled to make an appearance include Sirius Black, Hermione Granger, Bellatrix LeStrange, Garrick Ollivander, Voldemort and Hogwarts staff Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore, Sybill Trelawney, Minerva McGonagall and Pomona Sprout, as well as members of the Weasley and Dursley families and many more.
Actors embrace each role and stay in character through the entire evening.
Juul noted as soon as attendees step through the doors they will be transported to the magical world to Hogwarts.
Because the event draws many repeat guests, they will introduce a new performances throughout the night.

“Each year, the performances get more creative and fun,” she added.
Harry Potter fans will also witness more magical surprises, along with new attractions.
Each attendee will receive a Marauder’s Map to help them on their scavenger hunt, where they will visit places from the stories, such as Hogwarts, Honeydukes Candy Shop, Ollivander’s Wand Shop, and more.
There will be several game stops where they can play to win Harry Potter-themed prizes.
“Enjoy specialty drinks at the ‘Leaky Caldron’ or ‘Three Broomsticks Pub,’ such as butter beer — both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions,” Juul said.
Additionally, you can drop in at several classrooms, such as Divinations, Defense Against Dark Arts, Potions, and even Dark Mark’s Tattoo shop.
Guests can take part in a trivia contest for the “House Cup.”
DACF has many specialty raffle baskets that will be given out each night.
Tickets for the event are $65, all inclusive and can be purchased by Monday, Jan. 26, on the DACF website at www.dickinsonareacf.org/events. No tickets will be sold at the door.
For those unable to purchase online, forms can be printed from the website and submitted to the DACF office.
Guests will be assigned to one of the four houses within the Hogwarts school — Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. Each has their own colors, crests, and traits, Juul noted.
“We do our very best to try to sort the guests in the houses they request, but tickets have first-come, first-served status, so some of the houses may already be sold out,” she said.
Everyone is encouraged to dress as a character from the books and movies, or wear the house colors they have been assigned.
All ages are encouraged to experience the unique community event.
“It’s not required to have read the books or watched the movies,” she said. “This event is so entertaining, you will not be disappointed.”
Due to the amount of time and effort required to make this event happen, it’s so important to have the attendance and support from the community to continue to offer this unique experience, Juul explained.
All funds raised support the Community Impact Grant Program. The fundraiser, along with the Fall Tailgate event, allows the foundation to award up to $20,000 grants to projects and programs in the community throughout the year.
