IM-KHS Alumni Hockey Scholarship launched for student-athletes

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain High School has a new scholarship, born from the spirit of community and tradition, The IM-KHS Alumni Hockey Scholarship.

Spearheaded by IMHS alumnus Annaliese Lucas, the scholarship was developed through the success and growth of the annual IM-KHS Alumni Hockey Game, which has become a beloved event for former players and fans alike.

This scholarship aims to support graduating seniors from Iron Mountain and Kingsford High School who have demonstrated dedication to hockey, academic achievement, and community involvement. It reflects the values of perseverance, teamwork, and leadership that define the IM-KHS hockey legacy.

“The Alumni Game has always been about reconnecting and celebrating our shared history,” said Lucas, founder of the scholarship. “Now it’s also about investing in the future — helping young athletes pursue their goals on and off the ice.”

The scholarship fund is fueled by donations, sponsorships, and proceeds from the annual Alumni Game, which continues to grow in attendance and impact. The newly unveiled logo — featuring a bold yellow “K” flanked by crossed hockey sticks and framed by the words HOCKEY, ALUMNI, and SCHOLARSHIP — symbolizes the unity and pride of the IM-KHS hockey community.

To be eligible for the IM-KHS Alumni Hockey scholarship, applicants must be graduating from IMHS or KHS, have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.00 or higher, have participated in at least one year on the co-op Kingsford hockey team or Dickinson Amateur Hockey Association (DAHA) and be attending a two- or four-year university or trade school. The first scholarship will be awarded the Class of 2026.

Those who would like to donate to this scholarship can send checks written to “IM-KHS Alumni Hockey Scholarship” and sent to: Scholarship Administrator, IMHS, 300 W. B St., Iron Mountain, MI 49801.
