IRON MOUNTAIN — Hundreds of participants came out to support the Stomp the Snow charity event Saturday.
The fourth-annual lantern-lit family snowshoe event, organized by the local non-profit group Family Snowshoe Charity Association, took place at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain.
“We had almost 600 people go through the ‘Tunnel of Lights,’ which was the trailhead for all four loops,” FSCA President Jean O’Dette said.
Local individuals and businesses once again provided sponsorship for the half-mile, 1-mile and 1.75-mile lanterns and special stations on the route.
“The weather was perfect and the trails couldn’t have been nicer with the little bit of fresh snow we got the day before,” she added.

Attendees took advantage of the fun selfie station, meteor shower and other light displays for photo opportunities.
The Yetis roamed the trails, while three little monsters in ghillie suits surprised walkers, O’Dette said.
After they returned from their walk through the scenic grounds, participants were able to warm up with hot chocolate and toasted some marshmallows for s’mores at the fire pit.
She noted that Pine Grove County Club was also busy, as they served more than 180 meals, along with many enjoying their specialty drinks.
The 2026 event partners were Lake Antoine Park Partners and Iron Mountain-Kingsford Kiwanis Club.

O’Dette said partner volunteers were a great help with setting up, event activities and taking down.
“Without them we would not have been able to host this event,” she adds. “We really appreciate their contributions.”
The winner of the pair of snowshoes donated by Hardcore Outfitters of Iron Mountain was Jennifer Christy.
Anyone who shared a photo with any of the signage or posters to their social media accounts were entered into the drawing.
This year’s major sponsors include Bacco Construction, Enbridge Inc., First National Bank & Trust, M.J. Electric, Pine Grove Country Club, Radio Results Network and TV6/Fox UP.

The 2027 event partners will be announced later this summer, O’Dette said.
