Gary Sparapana of Iron Mountain takes flight at Pine Mountain in 1971. Sparapana was a junior national ski jumping champion in 1967 and served 29 years as a judge, including as the chief of the officials at the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002. He will be inducted in to the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame on May 9 during a ceremony at the Island Resort & Casino in Harris.
