IRON MOUNTAIN — For the 20th consecutive year, the John Fornetti Dental Center of Iron Mountain will host “Dentistry from the Heart” on Saturday.
The program runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and operates on a “first come, first served” basis. No advance appointments will be taken.
“Dentistry from the Heart” offers adults age 18 and older the opportunity to receive one complementary dental service — either a cleaning, filling or extraction — at no out-of-pocket cost.
For individuals who struggle to afford dental care, the event goes far beyond treating immediate dental concerns.
“It’s compassion in action, giving hope in real time,” owner Dr. John Fornetti said. “And allows our team to provide the public access to essential dental care, aiming to improve the overall health of those in our community and beyond.”
Fornetti added the services provide during the event typically range from $100 to $400 or more.
For those feeling trapped between dental health issues and financial strains, the clinic is an opportunity to give back to those who need it most.
“Dental pain can be overwhelming,” Fornetti said. “Providing relief this way to the community is one of the most impactful expressions of why we do what we do.”
The public and dental office anticipate the annual community outreach event each year. In the past years, the dental center has served more than 100 patients during the event hours.
While a warming shelter is usually provided, it is recommended the public monitor the weather and dress accordingly in case the wait line extends outside the building into the outdoor elements.
The dental center is at 100 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain.
