Search efforts continue in Marquette for a missing Northern Michigan University student last seen early Sunday near the Founder’s Landing Boardwalk on Lake Superior.
Trenton Massey, 21, a construction management student, appeared disoriented and having difficulty walking when he was recorded on video at 3:25 a.m. Sunday in the area of East Baraga Avenue and the boardwalk, according to the Marquette Police Department.
Massey was wearing an olive green and black jacket and dark pants.
He is 5 feet, 11 inches in height and about 225 pounds. He has brown eyes and reddish-brown hair.
Massey was not dressed adequately for prolonged winter exposure, so is considered in danger of hypothermia, according to the MPD.

After a second day of searching Tuesday, the MPD posted on Facebook that efforts will resume at 9 a.m. Eastern time today, adding, “The focus will remain on the water of the lower harbor, near Founder’s Landing. Searchers with specialized equipment and training will continue to be used.”
Volunteers for further searching on land should gather at 10 a.m. Eastern time today in the lobby of the Hampton Inn, 461 S. Lakeshore Blvd., for further directions. All are reminded to stay off the ice in the harbor, the MPD advised.
Assisting with Tuesday’s search were the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Northern Michigan University Police Department, U.S. Coast Guard Station Marquette, Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, U.S. Army, No One Left Behind K9 Search and Rescue, Northern Michigan University, volunteers and numerous businesses that offered shelter and warm beverages.
Marquette police also have asked that residents and businesses in the area south of Washington Street from McClellan Avenue to the Lake Superior shoreline and south to Furnace Street check surveillance camera footage from about 3:25 a.m. Sunday for any signs of Massey.
The MPD requested residents check their property as well, including vehicles and outbuildings.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the MPD at 906-228-0400.
