US 141 to see improvements in 2027

A U.S. 141 resurfacing and culvert replacement project is scheduled to begin in 2027 in Marinette County, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said.

The project covers about 8.3 miles of U.S. 141 from County C in the village of Wausaukee north to County K in the town of Amberg. It had previously been planned for the 2028 construction year, WisDOT said.

“This advancement reflects WisDOT’s commitment to addressing roadway needs more quickly while optimizing available funding and resources,” the department said in a news release. “The project is necessary to correct severe pavement deterioration and substandard culverts and guardrail.”

U.S. 141 will be resurfaced using cold in-place recycling, a method that reuses existing pavement materials. The work includes:

— Milling off approximately 2.75 inches of the existing surface.

— Placing 3 inches of CIR pavement

— Replacement of 19 guardrail segments totaling approximately 10,771 linear feet.

— Maintenance or replacement of 19 culverts.

The highway is expected to always remain open using flagging operations during construction.
