ESCANABA — It’s time to make like a tree and order your tickets to BAY-CON, McFly.
To mark its fifth year, BAY-CON will be a two-day event with events running May 1-2 at Bay College in Escanaba.
The event will feature a large vendor space where attendees can purchase items like toys, vinyl records and original artwork. There will be several food trucks, vintage video gaming featuring Atari, Nintendo, Sega, and more, a cosplay contest, trivia, a slate of celebrity guests, and a weekend full of family fun.
“Travel back in time to visit your childhood,” said Dave Laur, founder of BAY-CON. “BAY-CON is an amazing trip down memory lane that explores and celebrates pop culture, including toys, video games, music, movies and so much more.”
Laur said the “Friday Night Geek Fight” will feature laser tag, “Magic the Gathering,” tabletop RPG gaming, tournaments in video games and pinball, plus the vendor hall and special guests. Saturday will feature the vendors and guests as well as cosplay, trivia, and more.
“Our special guests this year are Carla Perez, Jason Moore, Alejandra Reynoso and Andre Sogliuzzo,” he said.
BAY-CON is sponsored by Bay College student organizations Campus Activities Board and Gaming Galaxy as well as local businesses, and is a fundraiser for the college’s student organizations and athletic teams who staff the event.
Tickets are available now and are $5 for single-day passes or $7 for both days. Admission is free for ages 10 and younger. To purchase tickets, go to www.baycollege.edu/about/events/bay-con.php. For current information, go to the BAY-CON Facebook event page.
