The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has scheduled 42 culvert replacements this year on a 30-mile stretch of Highway 180 in Marinette County, which will require detours.
The work will take place from U.S. 141 to Highway 64 between the village of Wausaukee and the city of Marinette.
Tree clearing was scheduled this month, WisDOT said in a news release. Culvert work will take an estimated 70 working days and is expected to begin in July and finish in October, the agency said.
Highway 180 will be closed and detoured during culvert operations beginning in July. The closures will take place in two stages in the work zone:
— Stage 1, closed between Highway 64 to Marinette County X: Starts near Highway 64 and proceeds north; anticipated completion mid-August.
— Stage 2, closed between Marinette County X to U.S. 141: Starts mid-August from the south end and works toward Wausaukee; expected completion early October.
Detour routes:
— Stage 1, July to mid-August: The detour route for culverts south of County X will utilize U.S. 141 and Highway 64.
— Stage 2, mid-August to early October: The detour route for culverts north of County W will utilize U.S. 141 and County X.

A weekly update is distributed every Friday during construction season and includes current construction activities and traffic impacts over a two-week period, WisDOT said.
