FLORENCE, Wis. — Since taking over Docks-N-Moor of Florence in 2019, Anthony Krans and Andy Anderson have expanded the business to include everything to do with landscaping.
The company was founded by Anthony’s parents, Tom and Kathi Krans, in 1999. Tom had been working in the construction industry for many years, and Kathi had a background in landscaping. They decided to combine their skills and start their own business. It has been at the present location since 2018.
When they took it over, they only installed docks and lifts.
“We used to work at Bacco, so we got experience from Bacco, and then we got laid off. He (his father) owned Lake Antoine Lawn and Sport and he’s been an entrepreneur all his life so we figured we’d give it a shot,” Krans said.
In addition to docks and lift installation and repairs, they now provide excavating, concrete, landscaping, snowplowing, land clearing, shorelines and retaining walls. They are licensed and insured.

“In the spring we install 250 docks and lifts and after that we take off with the landscaping. We stay busy, that’s for sure,” Krans said.
They retained all of the dock customers from the early years, he said, plus the regular landscaping customers.
“We take a lot of pride in what we do. Quality means a lot to us. We make sure it done right. We go above and beyond for our customers,” Krans said. “I have a lot of customers that will vouch for that. We have a good client base.”
The business is relatively local, with the furthest clients in Fence and Hamilton Lakes. They do not plan to expand at this time.
“I’m pretty comfortable where we’re at right now. It’s fun. We don’t even call it work half the time. We enjoy what we do. I don’t want to get too big or too crazy,” Krans said.

Anderson also enjoys the work. “I love it. Every day is something different and I work with great people,” she said.
They plan to purchase some new equipment this summer, a new skid steer and mini excavator, and they maintain their own equipment.
Krans and Anderson have three full-time employees in addition to themselves and they add a few more in the summer.
One change Krans has noticed in docks is size. “Everyone wants the biggest dock they can get,” he said.
Boat lifts are also very popular. They offer a range of lift models.
“A lot of people that come up here, they want to come up, jump on their boat and go, and then store it when they’re done,” Krans explained.
Krans said his favorite part of the job is meeting customers. “Everyone has a different take on stuff,” he said.
