Easter egg hunting season to start Saturday in region

IRON MOUNTAIN — Easter is just around the corner, and area communities are hiding eggs and planning for the Easter Bunny’s arrival.

Local events will include:

IRON MOUNTAIN

In celebration of spring, the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain will host a Winter Blues Staycation from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Children ages 5 to 8 are invited to a spring-break party with their favorite “blue heeler pup.”

This year’s Quinnesec Easter Egg Hunt is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the ball field on Lincoln Avenue. The library will have many activities for kids to get out of the house and have fun in a safe environment, Public Relations Specialist Maggie Mooney said.

They will also have pinatas, masks and snacks available.

Registration is required for the event and can be made by calling the library at 906-774-1218.

On Wednesday, they invite older children to “Build a Peep a House” from 5 to 5:45 p.m.

Participants ages 7 to 12 will be challenged to build a house for a marshmallow Peep with various food items.

Participants will be able to take home their creations, along with a goody bag. Registration is required; call 906-774-1218 to sign up.

Mooney noted these Easter programs will be in place of the annual egg hunt at the library.

“Our ‘egg hunt’ is going to take place this summer in conjunction with our dinosaur-themed summer reading program,” Mooney said.

QUINNESEC

The town of Quinnesec will host its second-annual Easter Egg Hunt event Saturday, April 4.

The free event will begin promptly at 1 p.m. on the baseball field off Lincoln Avenue.

More than 12,000 eggs have been filled with treats, along with more than 250 eggs that will include a ticket to be exchanged for prizes.

Kids can collect their prizes at the skate shack immediately after the hunt.

All area children age 11 and younger are invited to take part.

Organizers will divide areas of the park into four sections for each age group.

All groups will start at the same time. Everyone is asked to stay behind the caution lines and to not touch any eggs until directed.

They remind participants to bring a basket or bag to collect their eggs.

The Easter Bunny will return to visit with the kids after the hunt.

She noted he was a big hit last year, with kids lining up to get photos.

Weather permitting, ACA Jumps will set up a bounce house for the kids.

NORWAY

Norway Mountain is welcoming community children to an Easter Egg Hunt at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, on the mountain.

Organizers will have a large quantity of eggs hidden around the lodge area, in addition to some special prizes to win.

A dedicated area for children age 5 and younger will be marked for them to have fun safely.

The event offers a great opportunity for Easter photos.

Everyone is reminded to bring their baskets for collecting eggs.

The evening will be filled with fun, surprises and plenty of treats for the whole family, an organizer said.

NIAGARA, Wis.

The Niagara Women’s Club invited Niagara-area children to the annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park, behind St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.

The kids will be divided into separate age groups to hunt for eggs.

HERMANVILLE

The annual Hermansville Easter Egg Hunt will take place Sunday at the Stewart Manufacturing parking lot, N16415 Earle Drive

The hunt will start at 2 p.m. sharp.

Children through age 10 are invited to take part in hunting the thousands of eggs at the free event.

Eggs that contain tickets can be redeemed for prizes at the William Anderson Sportsman’s Club, W5616 First St.

Kids are reminded to bring baskets to collect their eggs.

In addition, the clubhouse will host a bake sale, offering a large variety of bars, muffins, cupcakes and cookies.

The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance.

CRYSTAL FALLS

Area children are invited to hop down to Runkle Lake Park at 11 a.m. Saturday for the annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Crystal Falls Business Association.

They will have more than 2,200-plus eggs up for grabs for ages 1 to 10.

Separate areas of the park will be designated for different age groups.

Kids are asked to bring baskets or bags for collecting. They will have a few on hand

The Easter Bunny is expected to make an appearance.

The CFBA encourages everyone to come early to register to be entered in a drawing for prizes that will take place after the hunt.

An Easter Egg Hunt and Story Hour is planned at the Crystal Falls District Community Library on Saturday, April 4. The egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m., with an Easter story to follow.

Kids will then make an Easter craft and enjoy refreshments and snacks.

Participants will receive an Easter-themed book to take home to add to their personal library.

Youngsters are encouraged to bring their Easter basket, as the library only has a limited supply.

The library is at 237 Superior Ave. in downtown Crystal Falls.

ALPHA

The Alpha Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 1 p.m. sharp Saturday at the ball field behind the old Alpha School.

IRON RIVER

Eggs will be up for grabs at the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at the West Iron County District Library in Iron River.

Activities will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at the library for toddlers through age 12. About 1,500 treat-filled eggs will be hidden throughout the library.

Bags will be provided for collecting; however, kids can bring their own baskets.

In addition to treats, young participants can do crafts and activities.

They will also have a sign-up for door prizes.

WAUSAUKEE, Wis.

The Wausaukee Business Association is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt for children through age 9 on Saturday, April 4.

The hunt, which starts at 11 a.m. sharp, will take place at Evergreen Park in Wausaukee.

In case of rain or snow, the egg hunt will be moved to the Wausaukee School.

CRIVITZ, Wis.

Area children age 9 and younger can have a hopping good time at the Crivitz Business Association’s annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, at the Crivitz Community Veterans Park.

The hunt will begin at 11 a.m. sharp. They will have areas marked off by age group within the park. Thousands of eggs filled with treats and prizes will be available.

Kids can have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny.

REPUBLIC

The Republic Sportsmen’s Club will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Central time Saturday, April 4, at Northern Lights Campground. All kids are welcome. The Easter Bunny will be available for photo opportunities.
