CRYSTAL FALLS — Get ready to Freeze Your Bass Off this weekend.
The Crystal Falls Lions Club will host its new winter fundraiser event starting at 11 a.m. at Runkle Lake Park in Crystal Falls.
A highlight of the day will be Yooper Curling, with the first games to start at noon on two courts. The entry fee is $20 per person for two-member teams, and payouts will be awarded to the top three finishers.
“We have had a lot of interest,” club member Jake Nurmi said, adding that teams can register the day of the event or on the Crystal Falls Lions Club Facebook page.
Food will be available throughout the afternoon. The club will offer a slow-roasted pork on the grill dinner for $10 that includes cowboy beans, potato salad and roll. A drive-thru option will also be available for meal pick-up.

Music entertainment will be provided by a DJ during the entire event.
Families attending the event can enjoy all-day sledding on the hill and a variety of activities planned for the children, Nurmi said.
Bonfires will be set up along the lakefront to help keep visitors warm.
The club will sell 50-50 raffle tickets throughout the day and Freeze Your Bass Off T-shirts for only $25, as part of their fundraiser.
Nurmi said this marks the first year of the event’s return, with plans to expand it in the future.
“We hope to see everyone at the lake on Saturday,” he said. “We are looking forward to making it another annual community event.”
All the proceeds from the event benefit the Crystal Falls Lions Club Children’s Cancer Fund, which supports children and families in the community.
