Incumbents seek reelection in northern Marinette County

Candidates for a number of local offices in northern Marinette County face no opposition on the ballot in Wisconsin’s spring election, set for Tuesday, April 7.

In the city of Niagara, incumbents Glenn Lantagne, Dan Decker and Lisa A. Johnson are unopposed Tuesday for three seats on the seven-member city council.

The terms of the other four Niagara City Council incumbents — Joseph Johnston, Michael Darne, Karl Lamoreaux and Donald Shampo — are up for election in April 2027.

Area residents also can vote on election day for the new Miss Niagara. The 2026 candidates are: Saylor Anderson, Lexi Johnston, Peyton Neuens-Allred, Grace Payette and India Varda. All are juniors at Niagara High School.

Originated in 1968 with the Niagara Lions Club as sponsor, this vote is open to Niagara High School students, along with city and town of Niagara residents. The winner will have her coronation at the Niagara Lions Community Picnic on June 27.

In school board elections Tuesday:

— Incumbents Debbi Champeau-Taurianen and Joe Champeau are unopposed for two three-year terms on the Niagara School Board.

— Incumbents Sally Kalkofen, Barbara J. Mazur and Kate Moddie are unopposed for three seats on the Goodman-Armstrong Creek School Board.

— Incumbent Brian Bousley is the lone candidate on the ballot for two at-large seats on the Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine School Board. The second seat up for election is currently held by Mandy McLain. The terms are three years.

Incumbent candidates unopposed for two year-terms on the Marinette County Board of Supervisors include:

— Roger Allen in District 1 (City of Niagara Wards 1 and 2).

— Melanie Olson in District 2 (City of Niagara Ward 3, Town of Niagara Ward 1, Town of Pembine Ward 1).

— Bill Stankevich in District 3 (Town of Goodman Ward 1, Town of Dunbar Ward 1, Town of Athelstane, Ward 1).

— Ken Hanson in District 4 (Town of Pembine Ward 2, Town of Beecher Ward 1).

— Christopher Norton in District 5 (Town of Athelstane Ward 2, Town of Silver Cliff Ward 1, Town of Stephenson Ward 1).

— Hank Novak in District 6 (Town of Amberg Ward 1, Town of Wausaukee Ward 1).

— John M. Guarisco in District 9 (Village of Wausaukee Ward 1, Town of Wausaukee Ward 2, Town of Middle Inlet, Ward 1).
