Portion of Lyons Lake Road still blocked by snow
A portion of the Lyons Lake Road about 0.4 mile east of Calumet Mine Road is not open to through traffic due to extreme drifting across an open field area, the Dickinson County Road Commission advised Thursday.
DCRC crews have been opening gravel roads for full-time residents as a first priority after Blizzard Elsa, according to Jim Harris, managing director for the road commission.
“Due to seasonal road restrictions in place and the current forecast, we may not be able to access this portion of the roadway to plow through, so it may be impassable until the snow melts down,” Harris said in a news release.
He had advised earlier in the week that unplowed roads or sections with gravel surfaces might not be plowed unless they have full-time residents, to avoid wear and tear on the plows plus damage to the road.
Anyone with questions about these roads can call the road commission at 906-774-1588.
