Winter storm warning tonight through Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of the region to take effect tonight through Friday afternoon.

This system could bring between 5 and 8 inches of snow to Dickinson and Menominee counties, with the heaviest amounts along and north of U.S. 2. Iron and other western counties could get slightly more, with winds gusting as high as 35 to 40 mph, the NWS advised.

To the north and east, Marquette and Delta counties could see up to 11 inches of snow, the NWS stated on its websites.

In northeastern Wisconsin, 4 to 8 inches of snow was forecast for Florence and Marinette counties.
