ESCANABA — The Bay College Greenhouse will sell native plant seedlings and vegetables from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time Friday, May 8.
This one-day event will take place at the greenhouse and Room 116 biology lab in the Math Science Building on the Escanaba campus.
The 26th-annual sale will include a section of native wildflowers, perennials, tomatoes, peppers and herbs. Pricing starts at $25 per flat, which can be mixed and matched, and $1 per individually potted plant.
All proceeds support the continuing operation of the greenhouse and plant donations to various community groups and projects.
The Bay College Greenhouse is committed to providing a local source of native plants for area gardeners interested in our local flora. Native plants are adapted to local conditions and have natural defenses to disease and insect pests. Importantly, they provide habitat and food for butterflies, hummingbirds, songbirds, and beneficial insects. Once established, they require little care or supplemental watering.
