IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. ― The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center has announced the opening of its primary care expansion at the Iron Mountain VA facility.
Primary care teams began seeing veteran patients in the new area on April 3.
“Projects of this nature reflect our shared commitment to creating a safe, efficient, veteran-centered environment through a coordinated effort from staff, stakeholders and contractors,” said John P. Shealey, medical center director. “Our team worked diligently to finalize this project which creates space to accommodate two provider aligned care teams.”
Further projects in the primary care area will update patient rooms, expand the outpatient lab drawing station and focus on continued support for veteran-centric care.
The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center and its eight community-based outreach clinic locations span the entire Upper Peninsula as well as nine counties in northeastern Wisconsin, serving nearly 22,000 veterans.
