Green Bay and Marinette lift bridges to close for inspections

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region announces routine maintenance and inspections of lift bridges in the cities of Green Bay and Marinette in Brown and Marinette counties will take place next week. The bridges will be closed during inspections.

On Monday, the Bart Starr (WIS 29/Walnut Street) bridge in Green Bay will close from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Tuesday, the Don Tilleman (WIS 54/Mason Street) bridge in Green Bay will be close from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Wednesday, the Don Tilleman bridge will have outside lane closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lane closures will allow the reach-all truck to extend underneath the bridge from the bridge deck to wash the bridge.

On Thursday, April 16, the Ogden Street Bridge in Marinette will close from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All bridges are safe to travel. Motorists may see bridge inspectors, inspection equipment, and/or drones. Please pay attention to the roadway when crossing the bridge.

Bascule lift bridges, often called drawbridges, are critical movable structures that allow marine traffic to pass while supporting highway, pedestrian, and freight movement. Wisconsin maintains 12 such bridges. All but one of the lift bridges are in WisDOT’s Northeast Region.

Starting at $3.50/week.
