IRON MOUNTAIN — Holiday Kitchen in Iron Mountain has been serving its full-day menu since 2001, making a wide range of meals for breakfast through dinner.
“Whether they come in days or nights, we have something for everyone,” General Manager Lisa Counter said.
She started in fall 2023, while Manager Jessica Haraski joined Holiday Kitchen in 2024. They have a staff of about 50 people who cook and serve customers.
Popular items include the all-you-can eat soup and salad featuring their fresh-baked bread and homemade ranch dressing, which are made daily along with the soups, meatloaf and meat sauce for their pasta dishes. They also have a variety of desserts, including their homemade Heath Bar cake.
They have an all-you-can-eat fish fry on Fridays starting at 3:30 p.m. Some of the choices include a combo basket, cod nugget basket, walleye bite basket and cod sandwich.

They added other items to the breakfast and lunch menus and they feature daily specials and a soup of the day.
On Wednesdays, they created a French dip smash burger special, a spin on their French dip sandwich, which is still available in its original form.
“We took something that has been here for a long time, and switched it up. A lot of people seem to like it,” Haraski said.
On Mother’s Day they will have a buffet from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A full menu will be available as well.
Counter and Haraski have been in the food industry for many years and both enjoy the fast pace. Counter, who worked at the restaurant years earlier, had her first manager job at the Kingsford Big Boy at age 19. Haraski has most of her experience in fast food restaurants, as manager of Burger King, Arby’s and Culver’s.

She liked working with teenagers, she said. “To see them grow, to be so shy and think they can’t do it — to see them gain confidence,” Haraski said.
Counter enjoys the customers, too — seeing them, talking to them.
Bill Neuens purchased Holiday Kitchen from Gene Levenburg, who created many of the menu items, and it underwent a major renovation from fall 2023 to May 2024. The restaurant received a top-to-bottom facelift, with new windows, ceilings, walls, flooring, tables and booths. They remained open during the renovation.
Holiday Kitchen, 1605 S. Stephenson Ave., is open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Summer hours begin May 1 and will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Holiday Kitchen has both delivery service and carryouts except for the Friday fish fry. Contact the restaurant at 906-776-3287 or via email contact@holidaykitchen.info. They can be found online at theholidaykitchen.com or on Facebook.
