Students were able to have designs burned into the boards or have them engraved. Volunteer Mark Pugh said classes are offered to any school in Dickinson County; Bishop Baraga Catholic School also took part this school year. Kingsford has reached out to have a tour of the facility and last year Norway students attended. They schedule volunteers based on the number of students — many are retired teachers or professionals. He said the project helps students learn to work with their hands and may introduce them to skills they could use in the future. High school students can even become Pine Creek Woodworking members as long as they can drive themselves. The group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that accepts donations to help keep the facility running. For more information, go to the Pine Creek Woodworking page on Facebook.

Starting at $3.50/week.
