KINGSFORD — Registration is open for the 2026 “Raise the Roof” golf outing, a major fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity Menominee River in Kingsford.

The 24th-annual event will take place on Thursday, May 21, at Timber Stone Golf Course in Iron Mountain. As in past years, it is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

There will be prizes, on course games, a 50-50 drawing and a silent auction.

Pricing for the event has increased slightly, with $650 covering a foursome and $170 for an individual golfer. This fee includes food and drink tickets from the clubhouse bar and grill, and also includes the cart rental. Mulligans, strings, skins and pay it forward are also available, and are $25 each (one per foursome).

To register, fill out a registration packet and bring it to the Habitat office at 113 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Kingsford.

All proceeds generated from the event stay in the local area and will be used to help fund the home repair program, which helps income-qualified homeowners to perform needed repairs on their homes. The family must own and occupy the home to qualify for the program.

In 2025, Habitat for Humanity Menominee River completed 25 home repair projects, including 15 critical repairs on roofs, furnaces, water heaters, wells, septic systems, doors and window replacement; and 10 accessibility repairs for wheelchair ramps and bathroom remodels. The group also began construction on a 52nd house that will be completed later this spring.

So far this year, Habitat has finished five of 26 planned repair projects, with another three in the works.

They are also seeking sponsors. Event sponsors play a huge role in making the golf outing successful. The top three sponsor levels — Title, for $2,800; Roof Truss, $1,200; and Floor, $600 — include hanging company banner, pre-event publicity, and recognition at the beginning of the event. The Title Sponsor includes eight golfers and the Roof Truss level, four golfers.

There are also Hammer level for $250 and Nail for $100.
