IRONWOOD — A narcotics investigation in Ironwood that authorities said was years in the making culminated in drug charges being filed against three people.
Investigators with the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team, or GIANT, obtained information on an Ironwood address owned by Mary Conley that reportedly was involved in trafficking and use of controlled substances, including sales of methamphetamine, cocaine and prescription drugs, according to a GIANT news release.
GIANT was able to conduct controlled buys of methamphetamine and cocaine from Conley’s residence, which allowed investigators to obtain arrest warrants from the 98th District Court in Gogebic County.
GIANT on Saturday arrested Conley; Jeffrey Emery, also of Ironwood; and Chad Bergquist of Ramsay. They have been arraigned at the Gogebic County Courthouse on these charges —
— Conley, 61, on four counts of delivery of methamphetamine; and one counts each of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house, delivery of cocaine, delivery of cocaine in a park and delivery of methamphetamine in a park. Bond is $50,000, with 10% cash.

Jeffrey Emery
— Emery, 48, on delivery of methamphetamine and conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine. Bond is $20,000, with 10% cash.
— Bergquist, 43, on conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine. Bond is $30,000, with 10% cash.
Each are presumed innocent until/unless found guilty by a trial or guilty plea to one or more of the criminal charges, the news release states.
Additional arrests are anticipated, according to the news release. The targeted residence is expected to be seized with assistance of the Gogebic County Prosecutor’s Office and the City of Ironwood.
GIANT thanked these agencies for their assistance: K-9 Debwe, Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Ironwood and Gogebic County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas J. Jacobs.
